Sound and Production Services
Alongside his podcast production and composition work, Ian is an experienced live sound and mastering engineer.
On the live sound front, he has worked with many national and international touring acts, including Charlie Dore, Boo Hewerdine, Reg Meuross, Brooks Williams and Geoff Muldaur to name a few. Alongside the sound desk work, he has also produced live recordings, capturing them at source and then mixing and mastering in his studio. In 2016, he was commissioned by Ashley Hutchings MBE to produce his live, autobiographical album From Psychedelia To Sonnets, seeing the project through from live sound to CD release (see below for Ashley's testimonial). |
Ian also offers a mastering service, enabling your material - whether that's music or spoken word - to be transformed to commercial and broadcast levels, whether for physical production, streaming or broadcast.

"It was a pleasure to work closely with such a talented and sensitive artist whose attention to detail was everything a performer could wish for. I look forward to the opportunity of working with him again." Ashley Hutchings MBE, commenting on working with Ian, who produced his autobiographical album From Psychedelia To Sonnets, released in April 2016. "Ashley Hutchings is the single most important figure in English folk rock" - Bob Dylan. Band leader, musician, songwriter, producer and much more, Ashley Hutchings is mainly known as founder of Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span and the Albion Band. He is called the Guv'nor of folk-rock in this country and was made an MBE for services to folk music in 2015. |
Mark Harrison
Album: On The Chicken Sandwich Train - Live (released Dec 2015) “Ian did the sound for my Acoustic Roots @ Wigan Parish Church brilliantly, with meticulous attention to my very non-standard guitars and the acoustics of the venue, and this played a huge part in what was a very memorable gig there. He also recorded the gig so well that I released it as a live album. His editing, mixing and mastering skills are top class and were a huge part of a very successful album. He is also a joy to work with on a personal level.” Visit Mark Harrison's website for more details and to purchase the album |

Album: Live Bootleg (2014) and live sound (2016-18) “Working with Ian Cleverdon is a delight. He has mixed live sound for me at Acoustic Roots in Wigan on two occasions, once with my band and several times as solo acoustic. In each situation, he created a room and stage mix that was both clear and “true.” He approaches his sound engineering with a musician’s ear and has a fantastically positive attitude that inspires confidence. Ian is also able to record the show at the same time - no small task! - and I have found that these recordings perfectly capture both the sound and energy of the concert. The recordings are good enough for a live album!” Visit Brooks Williams' website for more information. |
