Back in 2022, Ian was contacted by Sarah Turner and the Royal Duality design team to see if he was able to write individual tracks for the online visual novel via a musical commission. After some brief discussions, Ian set himself to task on the project requirements, which were:
  • Each piece needs to be around two minutes in length
  • The start and end of each piece should be similar so that they can loop if the reader / player is in that location for a while
  • The music should fit the character and location.
Ian was then provided with a descriptive paragraph on the look of each character and location, including the opening screen (Check In), and off he went in his studio. Following lots of artistic design work by the team, the visual novel was launched by Royal Duality in December 2024 and you can download and play it for free here. Well done to Sarah, the Royal Duality team, and Hyakuten Games for producing this.
